What a beautiful day. It started off cool (about 51) and never warmed up until I got to Sacramento where it was 84.
I entered Yosemite from the south end and spent about 5 1/2 hours in the park. It was unbelievable. I was there when I was 11 years old, but don't really remember these unforgetable and inspiring sights. Obviously we don't appreciate things like this when we are younger.
It started with the small pond where mist/fog was rising. It was about a 20 mile drive from Oakhurst to Yosemite. Went to Mariposa Grove first and saw some more amazing trees, then I went to Yosemite Valley about 35 miles away. Here is where you will see El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls and Half Dome amoung other things. It was simply beautiful. I then headed out the other end through Tuolumne Meadows and Tioga Pass. At 9945 feet, it was cold there.
I then headed up to Lake Tahoe and over to Sacramento.
Headed out at 8:30 AM and arrived in Sacramento at 7:00 PM. 383 miles today.
Saturday is over to San Francisco and up the Pacific Coast Hwy to Eureka.
Question for the day: Why does it SEEM that we as Americans do not visit our own National Parks? It is amazing the mosiac of languages that you will hear while walking around. Michael and Rod will vouch for this from last year. It seems that you hardly hear an American while in the parks. Just wondering!!!
