Mid-State Trip Day 3 - Spirit Lake, Iowa to Walker, Minnesota

Today could be split into 3 distinct parts. In the morning, it was cool and foggy. We headed out at 7:00 AM and it was 68 degrees. It was very foggy. There were times when you couldn’t see more than 20-30 yards ahead of you. We almost missed the turn off for a new highway that we needed to take. After about 45 minutes, it cleared up and we could see the farmlands of southwestern Minnesota. The temp got up to about 80 before we ran into a cool front that dropped the temp about 10 degrees in an hour, back to the 68 that we started with (sorry you guys in Texas). We actually had to stop and put our jackets on.

The middle third was all interstate in South and North Dakota. The only good thing about this part was that the speed limit was 75. It also got very windy. We got to Fargo about 12:30 and went to the Harley dealership and then had lunch. The temp warmed back up to near 80 again.

The final third was back in Minnesota and it was a beautiful ride. We left the farmlands of the lower part of the state and drove through the forested areas. The drive from Detroit Lakes to Walker, Minnesota was a great way to end the day.
We are staying at a casino and got a break on our room rate…however, we left that plus some more at the gaming tables!!
It is supposed to get down to 54 degrees tonight and only reach 75 tomorrow. We will head east through Minnesota, across northern Wisconsin and into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

Trip mileage - Today 467 - Total 1347

That's it for today.
